Moderation & Reports
Keep your feedback board clean by reviewing submissions and handling reports. A well-moderated board builds trust with your users.

- The feature becomes visible to all users
- Status changes to "Under Review" or "Planned" (your choice)
- The author gets notified (if emails are enabled)
Rejecting Features
When a feature shouldn't be published:
- Click Reject
- Choose a reason:
- Spam - Promotional or irrelevant content
- Duplicate - Already exists (consider merging instead)
- Inappropriate - Offensive content
- Unclear - Needs more detail
- Other - Custom reason
- Add a note (optional) - The author sees this
- Click Confirm Rejection
The author is notified with your reason.
Merging Duplicates
When two features are the same idea:
- Find the duplicate in the moderation queue
- Click Merge
- Search for the original feature
- Select it
- Click Merge Features
What happens:
- All votes transfer to the original
- The duplicate is removed
- Voters from both are now on one feature

Report Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | New, needs review |
| Reviewing | You're looking at it |
| Resolved | Action was taken |
| Dismissed | No action needed |
User Warnings
You can issue warnings to users when resolving a report or directly from user management.
Issuing a Warning
- When resolving a report, select Warn user as the action
- Alternatively, go to Admin > Users, find the user, and click Warn
- Enter a warning message explaining the issue
- Click Send Warning
What Happens
- The user sees a warning banner on their next visit to the board
- The user must acknowledge the warning before they can continue using the board
- The warning is recorded in the user's warning history, which admins can review from the user detail page
Warning history is tracked permanently. Multiple warnings on a user's record can help justify stronger action like deactivation or banning.
Setting Up Moderation
Enable Moderation Queue
- Go to Admin > Settings > General
- Find "Auto-approve submissions"
- Set to No
- Click Save
Now all new features go to the queue first.
Allow Anonymous Submissions
- Go to Admin > Settings > General
- Find "Allow anonymous submissions"
- Set to Yes or No based on your preference
- Click Save
Requiring login reduces spam significantly.
Best Practices
| Practice | Why |
|---|---|
| Review the queue daily | Keeps the queue short and shows users their feedback matters |
| Be consistent with decisions | Apply the same rules for everyone to build trust |
| Always explain rejections | Help users understand what went wrong so they can submit better requests |
| Merge duplicates instead of rejecting | Consolidates votes and preserves the submitter's contribution rather than discouraging them |
| Reserve banning for serious violations | Banning is permanent and harsh; use it only for spam, harassment, or repeated offenses |
| Use Inactive status as a middle ground | Inactive users can still log in but cannot post or vote, giving them a chance to reform without full removal |
Tips
- Check regularly - Don't let reports pile up
- Be fair - Review the actual content, not just the report
- Document decisions - Use the notes field
- Watch for patterns - Same user getting multiple reports? Investigate.
